At the invitation of the Kontrast festival and Neko Galaxy, Josan Gonzalez, aka Deathburger, will be the festival’s special guest.
Deathburger is an illustrator from Barcelona. His work is known for its cyberpunk themes, incredibly detailed linework, and unique color palette, which draws on the traditions of the Ligne Claire and European science fiction comics from the 1980s. His style reflects a wide range of influences and interests, from metal music to anime and 1990s horror films. Deathburger studied art at the University of Barcelona. He never completed his studies, and learned most of his craft from the “Great Masters,” the internet, and his own thirst for knowledge. Deathburger is also the creator of The Future is Now, an original IP depicting a near future dominated by technology and corporate greed and inhabited by strange characters. This universe is compiled in a series of self-published books on narrative art, posters, and other visual materials. In addition to his personal work and publishing activities, Deathburger has worked for various clients, including Riot Games, Wizards of the Coast, Metallica, Wired Magazine, CD Projekt Red, Pearl Jam, and others.
