Mamikon Khatchikian – He was born in the 1990s in the United States, but spent most of his childhood in Krakow, where his passion for miniature painting began. He quickly became fascinated with competition painting after seeing the works of the 2003 Golden Demon winners (in those legendary white supplements to White Dwarf). Jakob Rune Nielsen’s Slayer Sword from the UK was the piece that stuck in his memory and inspired him to pursue ambitious painting. He participated in several junior competitions, including YoungBloods at the Golden Demon in Poland in 2008, but he didn’t get serious about painting until 2015–2016. Over the past few years, he has managed to win several prestigious awards, including the magnificent Mermaids from Kontrast 2023 and 9 Golden Demons. The key elements he values in miniature painting are precision, “cleanliness,” and storytelling.
The presentation will take place on June 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the Shakespeare Room.
